You know I certainly am not an avid downloader; I'd rather not listen to something at all if I can't find a solid copy. That's kind of stupid, but hey.

i find downloading similar to tape trading so i can listen while waitin for re-release compilation cds etc

I find d/l to be very, very different from tape trading.

sure he procedure is very different, and it;s a lot less personal when downloading but in the end what it comes down to is.

Depends, I've been exchanging Swedish DM demos over MSN for the last 3 days with drummer from grave miasma and a buddy in America, and another guy from america who I was chatting with on SLSK that has a huge swedish dm list , so there is interaction there, you can message and chat with the people you download from in slsk

Argh, I wonder how anyone can say that soulseek / msn chatting is the same degree of interaction than goin to a gig with friends and exchanging a bunch of 7"...

your last post is the first mention of trading 7"s at gigs, if you check my post, I said tape trading, it's how a lot of people got into their metal back in the early 90s. i tape a bunch of bands mail it to someone they mail me some shit they taped back to me. chat/mp3 is just a more modern version of snail mail/tape

Be it tape or anything else, virtual trade of shitty files will never be important for me.
