Weight of Cds, Tapes, EP, MLP, LP

I was curious...does anyone know the approximate weight of?:

CD
Tape
7"
10"
12"

It doesn't matter if the weight is metric system or not. I can understand metric and standard.

not sure about normal vinyls but those thick heavy 12" LPs are 180grams
not sure about the sleeves though

one single tape is approx 65 gr.

Yeah, every time I go to the post office I keep ogling the postage meters they sell but they're behind the counter and probably more expensive than they need to be, but damn, I'd like to have to to figure postage without the guesswork. I've decided i'm just gonna start saving my postal receipts and keep track of weights/prices that way and figure things out. haven't quite started doing that yet though.

Here is the list, it works in most cases :
LP / DLP / 10"MLP : 280 gr
T-shirt : 180 gr
Zine : 150 gr
CD/ MCD / CDr / DVD : 110 gr
7"EP / Tape : 70 gr
Button / Sticker / Patch : 50g

The packing itself is around 200g in general.

That sucks, really bad. They do it here in the US for out of country shipping. They weighed the damn letter I sent JB. Then it took the women like 5 min. to find Norway on an alphabetical list. Its a sad sad state of postal service.

yeah here if it's above a certan number of inche it costs more, if it's not uniformly thick, if it's above a certain thickness, if it's oddly shaped, etc.

Depends on the post office methinks, BS. My postal clerk is a crazy, giggly woman who found stamps for Norway right away. While giggling in a creepy way. ^_^ This is why I avoid the post office when possible, which isn't usually possible...

I go to the post office just about EVERYDAY. I am at the point where I tell traders/buyers...I am only going once a week.

Yeah, the post office clerks all know me by name since years now... mainly due to the clothing/costumes/leather custom work I do (I am a regular Martha Stewart, I know...) and will only get worse once I get the zine started up again. Thankfully I live across the street from the PO. ^_^ I used to tell people I only go twice a week, because it's too much fckn work going every day of the week with school and multiple jobs.

After a while they got used, but I also received a complain once. I did a trade and the guy wrote the name of my nm in the mIRC chat and it was like Gherardo - GOATFUCKINGVOMIT - Giannarelli
and the lady said "tell your friends to not write this stuff or next time I'll call the police. I know what's written there and I don't want to know what you do".
Other funny episode, a tape from Thailand opened and closed back with sticker with a label "opened for drugs control".

Unfortunately prices are getting higher here too and sometimes I have to plan trades or shipping checkin' how much is left in the pockets.

I used to get all kinds of dirty looks from the bizarre shit people would write on the envelopes when i started my zine in the 90s, a couple of people used to draw maggoty skulls on the outsides of the envelopes too. ^_^

at least you didn't receive any blood drenched letter or flyer eh eh

reminds me of when people used to write dawn of apocalypse or christcrusher on mail to me or little drawings of nukes n christ inverted etc

It's stories like this that make me sad I missed all of that

Just occurred to me yesterday though that I've used the mail more in the past two months that I probably ever had in my entire life.

I just got back from my local post office and they still don't have the new coupon for registered mail. So I have to move to one other town ... but everything wil be sent!

btw I had some difficulties finding blank tapes in my town.
The local record shop threw them away and it's not getting them anymore.
The local photographer had some 60 minutes for ... 2,50 euros!!!
I had to go to the supermarket but they only had 90 minutes for 1,73 euros...
Do you have the same troubles?

I have two options myself:

Big electronic store: pro: lots of tapes. cons: slim box look cool, but covers aren't designed for this. Per tape: 60=1,3€. 90=1,5
Musical instruments store, with some tape: made a deal with the guy, so I get approx 0,85€ per tape.

The only place in town that sells tapes here is the university bookstore, $1USD/tape. There are other places but they are too far away and I don't have a car and the public transport here sucks and only runs that way once a week(!). I will probably pick up a bunch when I am visiting my parents over break in a couple of weeks.

i had this tape problem 4 years ago, but since then the store where i did eventually find tapes has closed down. I havent actually looked for tape since then, so no idea how the situation is now adays
