| I like Profanatica personally...but what the fuck is the deal with all these little fan boys these days? They are clinging to Paul Ledney and his music like it was the gospel itself. It's like total Mayhem worship all over again... | |

| It's really fucking bad up here in New England. He has lots of fan-boy losers here.
Back in the early 90's, Profanatica was a fucking joke. No one gave a shit about them. I know this for FACT as I was involved in the scene back then as well.
I can understand if people enjoy his music, but he's really just out to make a buck off everyone these days. He doesn't give a fuck about quality and his live performances are total fucking shit. Look at the recent SOTNC fest, they dressed up like fucking nuns!!!!
I saw an old bootleg video of a while back, I think from New Jersey. At the end of one of the songs someone from the audience screams "you've got to be fucking kidding me!". I think that about sums it up.

The only thing I can't understand is why he thinks he can make money off people...there's none to be had in Metal in general. By the way, who are you maniac? Do I know you?

You'd be really surprised, I've heard from very reliable sources he get's at LEAST $1000-$1500 per show! Maybe a little more, who knows? I know he got quite a bit for that fucking 15 minute Havohej show.

| One of my friends saw them in New Jersey a little while ago. They played 4 songs and then stormed off stage, no antics. | |

Some of you may have heard of the Sacrifice of the Nazarene Child black metal festivals held in San Antonio, TX. I've been to 3 of them (numbers 6, 7, and the most recent one...9), but I have only recently become good friends with the person who organizes the whole festival every year (we are from the same city). Since we started talking regularly a few months before the 9th annual show (last June), he invited me to the party at the motel where all the bands were staying, which was the night before the show. Now, out of all of the black metal bands I've met, Paul Ledney (of Profanatica) has to be the biggest douchebag out of all of them. I'll try to tell this story in order of the events that happened.
In the months before the show, during all of the planning of the show, Paul Ledney was demanding all kinds of things to make this show happen. The organizer of the festival had to send him painkillers through the mail, or else he'd threaten to drop out of the fest (again. He dropped out several years ago, at SOTNC IV, and was replaced at the last minute by Absu). He demanded that my friend buy not only his plane ticket, but his friend's as well. His friend is rich (and a good guy), but since Ledney borrowed a shit load of money from him some time ago, and never paid him back, he didn't feel his friend should have to buy his own ticket. So the fest organizer paid for both plane tickets...the rest of the band drove in a van to get there. Ledney also demanded $300 extra so he could buy what he claimed to be "sick shit to wear on stage" (not his own words). The $300 did not go toward the costumes, as they wore cheap nun outfits that you could buy at any costume shop.
Obeisance (of El Paso TX) was on the bill, and was supposed to bring real blood to the show...several gallons of it. Their (now former) drummer bailed on them the morning of the show, and they had no way to get to San Antonio from El Paso (it's like a 10 hour drive), and no drummer. The blood they were bringing was for Profanatica, and since they're good friends of the fest organizer, he promised Ledney this blood. Since they had no way to get to the show, Ledney flipped out! He screamed things like "I can't believe it. There's no blood. The show is ruined. This is bullshit. Blah Blah Blah." So my friend approaches me, with about $15-20 or so, and told me to go to the store and get tubs of chicken livers...so I did. The band squeezed the blood out of the livers into a bucket, but was complaining about it, after I drove 10 miles thru downtown to get this stuff.
After all this happened, Ledney demanded my to my friend "Take me to the airport. I'm going home. Fuck this, we're not playing. The club sucks, it's too hot, the sound is terrible" (which it wasn't TOO bad...except when he played. HA!). He also threatened to walk on stage and call all of the fans "posers" and then walk off, refusing to play. I have no idea what my friend did to convince him, but Profanatica played. During "Mocked, Scorned and Spat Upon," Ledney screamed "Get that fucking camera out of my face!" to a fan who was no where close to him (there's a youtube video to prove it). Right before they started playing, I was taking a few pictures. I literally took THREE photos (including one with him with his back turned), he came up to me, and very angrily said "THAT'S ENOUGH PICTURES!" and threatened to pull his dick out. I spoke with their session drummer the night before the show, who idolized Ledney while growing up. He said it was his dream to meet and play with Ledney, and even modeled his style after Ledney's. I offered to get a picture of him with Ledney, then I would email it to him. He got excited, asked Paul for the picture, and he got all pissed. "No pictures!" he said. He refused to let anyone take any photos of him.
My friend goes the extra mile for all of the bands he books, and is so busy making this show happen, that the only band he actually (sort of) gets to see perform every year is his own. He said that bands like Archgoat and Absu were extremely greatful for everything that he had done. All of the bands are well aware that almost the entire thing comes out of his own pocket, and he never even breaks even. The only person that complained like this, out of 9 festivals, and almost 100 bands, was Paul Ledney. I guess it should be noted that the other members of Profanatica were extremely nice.

That's typical Paul Ledney faggotry to me. I am also friends with Alex Blackthorn (Fest Promoter) I grew up around him, and have been to COUNTLESS of those SOTNC Fests. You should've seen all the fans talking shit about Ledney when he didn't show, when Absu had to pick up the slack. He's a fucking clown. It's a shame. I'm about ready to throw most of my Profanatica and Havohej shit out..haha
