Eastern European Black Metal Cult!!!!

What do you think for the great feeling that bands from Eastern Europe created during late 80's and early 90's?
I think they were some of the best and darker bands in the whole genre.
Bands like Master's Hammer, Torr, (early)Root, Angel Reaper, Fantom, Tormentor etc are just great for me...

only heard old tormentor and root from that list, and i couldnt get into the root material due to boss' vocal, sounded great musically though. tormentor was genius

any recomendations you could make for what i should check out by the other bands?

Yes I agree, Tormentor are genious!
Same style are the other two Hungarian bands Angel Reaper and Fantom

Angel Reaper: Has only 3 demos, first one isn't something special, second one is great as due to music incapability maybe they mix perfectly speed/thrash/black and punk and evn some folk melodies in guitar solos. Finally third one is also good more Death Metal I think, reminds a bit of early Tiamat-maybe a strong influnce for Nifelheim, very underatted band in my opinion.

Fantom: also only demo material, some stuff was released some years before (same as Angel Reaper) by Hungarian Native Pride Prod., I know the guy behind and he told me he plans to release again this stuff on cd (his editions was made on cdr). Well Fantom is very dark thrash with evil feeling and some older rehearsal material was close to Venom Black Metal style.Maybe they will reminds you a bit of Tormentor too.

Master's Hammer: The are brilliant, one the best BM bands around I think, their "Ritual" debut album is a masterpiece!!Try to find it. Second full lenght called Jilemnice Occultist is very innovative and experimental still great, basic idea was a BM opereta.Then they released third album but was shit, a lot electronics inside.If you find also their demos get them it is very worthy stuff too.

About Root I can say that I like mostly tgheir debut and yes I am also not a big fan of Boss but music wise they are brilliant.

Torr: They released several demo material etc as well some 7" and album, I have seen somewhere some vynil rereleases but a bit expensive. They are also somewhere among thrash/death/black metal usual for many ug bands of late 80's

There are some other worthy bands in hese areas like Anubis(Hun), Kasbah (now pop shit that also was in Eurovision for Chech Republic), Tudor...

In general seems that in Eastern Europe they played a very original style of evil thash and black metal. sure they had the feeling etc

I've only heard Master's Hammer's The Jilemnice Occultist and Root's Zjeveni. Like them both.

hahaha all this conversation lead me to put Jilemnice Occultist in stereo and enjoy, yes Master's Hammer is in the elite of BM, very special sound and still old school and dark!

Eastern obscure metal-AWESOME!

I find it sad that people neglect Maniac Butcher due to their photos and covers, they're one of the best black metal bands ever to play and it's all no compromises pure fucking black metal!

I like also Maniac Butcher and some other bands of 90's from there!like DARK STORM...
If we count also Poland, it had awesome bands, most of them are known but some unknown ones where fuckin great too!

My favourite polish band is Nirnaeth, not really black metal but still worth mentioning I think

Old Polish BM rules (Infernum, Fullmoon, Veles, old Graveland, Mysteries...) now most bands are shit. I like Besatt, even they are not awesome band. Kriegsmachine is nice one too!
I love Master Hammer, also Agmen is fucking great (mostly the first cd's).

I like Maniac Butcher I dont know why people use their photos as important.

LORD OF EVIL's first 3 demos are all classic Polish BM definitely some of the best.

graveland's first 2 demos are so raw as well,

yes if you think they are NS it sucks but they play good music at least in the ebginning when they didn't have many NS bullshits as lyrics.
Anyway I prefer more the Chech and Hungarian bands as better suit my taste...

666 - Necrofilie 1985!!!! The note says it's the first Czech black metal demo! Well, more like an insane Hellhammer version. Fukking historical!

Thats pretty cool. 85 was pretty early as well if I'm not mistaken.

I have that demo but its from 83, definitely cool stuff.

That demo is awesome shit.Total primitive metal.

So shame to me to not having this one. Maybe Milovan we can include it in our next tape trade...
