Funeral Doom

anyone else listen to Funeral? I'm just listening to tristesse, and thinking about how slow this is and got to discussing with my buddy about the first Funeral Doom. someone said tht Funeral Doom, as a genre the name was derived from Funeral, the band's name. but we were looking at Thergothon being 1 year older. and having a demo out 2 years before Thergothon, though I aint really very knowledgeable about doom, so I thought I'd ask here who the originators of Funeral doom are.

Mournful Congregation is probably the best extreme doom band.
Worship, Ataraxie, Funeralium, etc etc are also good.

You forgot to name Skepticism among one of the first bands to perform that kind of music. Maybe even the first Unholy cd might enter in this sub-category. Mixing doom and death metal with slooow parts...
Worship were fine, I have their new lp too, but it's there, waiting to be played by a new turntable.......
Winter? do they fit here or are as dISEMBOWELMENT in some limbo between death & doom?
