are any of you interested in sports? and if so which sports?
when i was in school i was heavily into sports in many school teams n such, since then the interest in sports has dwindled and I am pretty much only interested in the European football championships, the fifa world cup and the rugby world cup.
i used to watch club football when i was younger but i soon lost interest in this since no one supports a team they are from nor do the teams fill poitions with local players and it only depends on what ever club has the most money, so i find this quite bullshit. hence the reason i generally just watch international football or rugby
I do sometimes watch the tour de france as well as i find it amazing what kind of strength those guys have to cycle that far day after day etc

I generally hate sports.
I do share my life between heavy metal and another passion on wheels, which might be classified as "physical activity".

motorbikes?
ah one other thing i forgot to mentrion was i used to roller blade a lot, and through that was interested in extreme sports, skate boarding, BMX and loved watching the X-games, uk has piss poor coverage of the x-games or the tour de france which is why i watch so little of either of those two

Fuck X-games.
You know Demon Burger? that's the X-Games of Metal.
No bikes, skateboarding. Pure, raw and unalterated. Similar to Heavy Metal/Punk stuff, in many aspects.

i have no idea what you're trying to say with your post the x-games are the dimmu borgir of metal? that makes no sense, x-games has nothing to do with metal can you rephrase what you're trying to say?

Ok.
Mainstream = Dimmu Borgir / X Games
Underground= Kriegphilosophie / skating the streets
The X-games gather all kind of sponsors who are killing skateboarding, the same way that Nuclear Blast is killing metal. Is that clearer?

when i was last still watching skating the skaters in the x-games were still making great videos, street skating and all that. I cant quite see how the x-games are killing skating or any of the other sports it features.
but nuclear blast or labels like that didnt and neve rwill kill black metal, neither will bands like dimmu borgir. this is just a cheap statement from people who dont wanna filter through crap to find the real music. in my opinion.
sure i'll argue that dimmu and such likes are not black metal, but i'll never say that they killed black metal, as nothing will ever kill black metal... in the same way street skating will always be around.

Indeed. *sighs* I was just elaborating a parallel between music and skateboarding, in terms of mainstream/underground opposition. Believe me, X-games ARE killing skateboarding. Skateboarding is not performance, Powerade, hundreds of stairs and huge China Wall jump.

i understand you're trying to elaborate a parallel but in my eyes the statement wasnt correct
i watched the x-games for everything not just skate boarding i guess you're against all skate/extreme sports competitions

I am not against competition... Mate you should understand my point... it's like seeing Nokia and Powerade adds at a black metal concert! It's just.. wrong.

that's what i have been saying from the start, there is totally no similarity at all in my eyes
sure this is a cometition with sponsors, it happens with sports and always will. at the end they all go home and skate the streets like they always have. i couldnt care less if there was a nokia advert or sponsor at a black metal show. sure we'd all be btiching about what ever band would be sponsore dlike that were a bunch of jews. but no one would be whining saying it was killing black metal (except maybe you;)) to bitch and moan and say that a sports competition with sponsors is killing a sport is the most nonsensical excuse to complain about something which i've ever heard.. it's like saying the fifa world cup is killing football and the olympics are killing athletics and swimming and what ever other sport it showcases

the definition of sport i as follows
an athletic activity requiring skill or physical prowess and often of a competitive nature
which could be used to describe every event at the x-games

... ARGH. ... Are you reading? X-games is not skateboarding. Hence, Skateboarding is no sport.
Leave it, lad, I'm never going to agree with you on this particular matter...

aggree to disaggree
my next question would be, why do you only focus on the skateboarding element at the x-games being a non sport and being killed by this series of competitions, and not all the other events featured?

I focus on this, because that is what I do. Other "activities" have, I guess, the same aspects: underground, pleasure, and mainstream/money on the other hand.

you do street or half pipe or both?
and do you view tony hawk as a legend or a sell out since he participates in things like the x-games?

who do you prefer burnqvist or hawk? tough question i think since they;re both legends i guess.
only reason i ask if you think they are sell outs is cause of the comparison you mde between bm with adverts and the x-games, since any bm band who would have adverts or what ever would be called sell out/jews etc
did you ever see that king of skate or what ever it was called where they got 5 or 6 skaters and said \"come up with some stunt and we\'ll pay for you what you need to make it happen\"

No, and I don't ever want to see that. I don't care mate. The same way as Black Metal is about raw hatred, blasting, and spurting gritty riffs, skateboarding is fucking rolling, shredding and thrashing without giving a shit. Period, I'm off this topic.

you obviously do care otherwise you wouldnt have written about it so long.
and what you say that skating is about not caring, i can guarantee that everyone who skates in a competition does care, so i would say in black metal anyone who doesnt do the whole hatred blahblahblah thing is a sell out, so surely those skaters who dont stick to your views of what skating is about would be sell outs two?
you're being very picky about what you call a similarity between the two and what you dont calla similarity between the two. therefore i cant see your comparison as valid, and is probably why you've not been able to explain your opinion on this very well from the start

i remember seeing a video 4 or so years ago from NBA where someone in the crowd threw one of those soft drink cups at a player he ran into the crowd started beating this person and then big riot broke out with people throwing chairs at the players n all this stuff...
(Edit:i tracked the vid down)

Yes I rememebr that happened in NBA, it was crazy hahaha, you can look for some other crazy fight happened in court and spectators also involved
You are right in Greece, Turkey, ex Yugoslavian countries basketball is same as football so here we have same hooligan acts as football. Sometimes happen crazy things like ,molotov bombs in cars of players just to make them afariad and play shitty, pistols which can launch little fireworks used against rival fans etc... I think you know what I am talking about as some of them happen to other European countries in football... I saw the movie the footbal factory which was about hooligans in UK and it included several common practises with here (in both basketball and football)...
